The European award from ACSI in June has attracted even more foreign tourists to Silversand this year. Kai Nygård, the owner is very pleased that his ongoing work is bearing fruit. It’s his fourth season running the business. ACSI is a well known organisation among campers, so this recognition is very significant.
The increase of tourists is nearly 10 %. Silversand has had a clear increase in tourists from especially Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Norway and Sweden. We can see this development also in the Tourist office as larger number of customers until the end of September. Most tourists at Silversand are from the domestic market. To increase tourism related to nature is of prominent benefit to camping sites. The area of 10 hectares in Hanko is located by a stunning beach, which is popular also among the kitesurfers. Silversand is one of the best spots to admire the sunsets in Hanko.
Kai Nygård has during his years in Silversand improved the business by building a sauna world and many different types of cottages. One of the cottages has its own sauna. You can even try out glamping in one of the luxury tents. Also you can enjoy a fresh stonebaked pizza in the cosy restaurant with a beautiful view. These services have attracted local people as well.
Kais enthusiasm for new projects keeps him busy. His goal is to get five stars. Silversand is taking part in Visit Finland Sustainable Travel Finland program. The goal of Visit Hanko is to earn STF label as a destination, and we’re proud in the Tourist office that Silversand is taking part in sustainable development and is operating responsibly, which supports the year-round tourism.
